WW1 Battlefield Tour 15-18 June 2018

Screen Shot 2017 02 25 at 09.28.48

2018 marks 100 years since the end of the First World War. To commemorate the centenary, Little Thurlow Parish Council has organised a tour to the battlefields of both Belgium and France. The tour will be led by our guide, Brigadier Johnny Walker OBE, a British Legion Tour Guide.  We will be travelling by coach and crossing to France via the Channel Tunnel. The tour will depart from the Village Hall on Friday 15th June 2018 and return on Monday 18th June.

This is a tour of remembrance. We will be visiting battlegrounds, cemeteries and the Menin Gate. We will also endeavour to visit the grave of at least one of the Thurlow men named on our village memorials.

There are currently 7 places available at the time of writing. Costs, including travel and hotels are c£550.00 + £169.00 if single room required.

This will be a unique opportunity to remember the men of Thurlow who fought on the battlefields of Belgium and France. Please contact me for more information about the tour or to book a place.

Barn Owl Box

DSC02663In January Little Thurlow Parish Council was invited by Suffolk Wildlife Trust to apply for a free barn owl box to be erected at a community site in the village.  It was felt that the church yard would be ideal and with the agreement of St Peter's Church PCC, an assessment was carried out as to the best place for installation.  The goal is to help barn owls spread their wings across mid and west Suffolk so let's hope for success in our area.
